What Happened

Area authorities have information on a crash that killed a child at Belt Line Rd in Irving, TX on June 20th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 9:45 p.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet HHR operated by a 24-year-old Irving man is believed to have been headed northbound in a center lane, nearing the Conflates intersection. It has been alleged by investigators that the vehicle struck a Honda CR-V that was in the process of making a turn at the intersection. The collision left a 6-year-old child in the Honda with serious injuries she later died from. Three other child passengers had serious injuries as well. The driver, identified as 36-year-old Yeni Lopez, had less serious injuries while 28-year-old passenger Luis Martinez Rosales was seriously injured, according to police. The Irving man had suspected minor injuries and authorities recommended and/or issued four counts of Intoxication Assault and one county of Intoxication Manslaughter charges.
