What Happened

Arlington Police are investigating a crash that killed a child at I-20 near Hwy 287 in Arlington, TX on December 14th, 2021. Officials say the incident happened around 2 p.m. A Ford Escape headed eastbound on I-20 is said to have veered into the path of an 18-wheeler before the 18-wheeler crashed into the rear of the SUV. The SUV was forced from the road in the collision and overturned multiple times. The vehicle is said to have been occupied by seen people, including a 9-month-old, that investigators believe was sitting in the lap of one of the occupants. When the vehicle overturned, the child was ejected from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. Six people, including the child, were hospitalized and the child later died from their injuries. The injuries of the others were believed to be non-life-threatening. Additional information was not available.
