What Happened

New York State Police are investigating a crash that killed a child at Myrtle Ave and North Portland Ave in Brooklyn, NY on October 26th, 2023. Police say it happened around 7:45 a.m. According to investigators, a tow truck for the NYPD was westbound at Myrtle, approaching the intersection with North Portland. Upon reaching the intersection, sources allege the truck performed a right turn as a 7-year-old boy and his mother were crossing in or near the crosswalk. The child, who may have been riding a scooter at the time, was struck by the truck in the process. The child was pronounced dead from his injuries upon arrival at an area hospital for treatment.
