What Happened

Police are investigating a crash that killed a driver at US 77 in Lee County, TX on July 13th, 2024. Officials believe the incident happened around 11:18 p.m. According to investigators,  Jeep Grand Cherokee was headed northbound on US 77 before leaving the roadway for unconfirmed reasons. Reports say the vehicle entered into a bar ditch, striking a concrete culver before continuing through a fence. From there, reports say the vehicle made contact with a second fence, sending the vehicle airborne where it rolled over upon landing. The driver, identified as 38-year-old Christy Zavala, was fatally injured, reports say. Additional information was not available.
