What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at I-27 in Randall County, TX on October 6th, 2021. They say the incident happened around 12:05 p.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer operated by a 28-year-old Muleshoe man collided with the rear of a Toyota Avalon operated by 67-year-old year Clarissa Hill Bates in a construction zone. Police say due to the construction zone, two lanes merged into one and the Avalon braked due to traffic ahead, the truck then failing to control its speed to cause the rear-end collision. Bates suffered minor injuries in the collision. The Muleshoe man was not injured and charged with Failure to Control Speed.
