What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a multi-vehicle collision that killed three family members at Hwy 36 in Milam, TX on March 31st, 2025. Authorities are saying a Ford was stopped ahead of a Kia in a westbound lane in an active construction zone when an approaching 18-wheeler failed to control its speed and collided with the two vehicles. The impact is said to have caused the Kia to roll into a nearby ditch, its operator, who was not publicly identified, hospitalized for treatment. The driver of the Ford, identified as 43-year-old Clint McCaffety and his wife, 39-year-old Meghan McCaffety, and their 16-year-old son died at the scene.
