What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a woman at I-30 in Bowie County, TX on January 16th, 2022. Police say the incident involved Hyundai Elantra losing control on an icy bridge while headed eastbound on I-30. Investigators believe the vehicle struck concrete siderails and the four occupants of the vehicle were ejected. The driver, identified as 58-year-old Connie Sparrow, was hospitalized with injuries she later died from. The three other passengers, juveniles under the age of 18, were hospitalized with serious injuries. Additional information was not immediately available.
