What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a driver at I-20 in Erath County, TX on January 30th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 11:05 p.m. Investigators believe a tractor-trailer approached a stopped GMC Sierra while headed eastbound on I-20. Police say the Sierra was stopped in a moving lane of traffic in heavy traffic due to icy roads. The truck it says to have fishtailed while approaching and struck the GMC and its driver, who exited the vehicle, according to police. 42-year-old Cory Hamner was seriously injured. The tractor-trailer did not remain at the scene and officers say they have not yet confirmed if the driver was aware of striking Hamner or the vehicle.
