What Happened

Area authorities have details related to the death of a motorcyclist in an accident at FM 244 in Grimes County, TX on June 26th, 2021. They say the incident happened around 6:51 p.m. 33-year-old Cory Nicholas Deaeth was operating a Harley-Davidson motorcycle around a curve at FM 244 at what investigators believe was an unsafe speed. They also believe that Deaeth was traveling from Yankee's Tavern. The bike is said to have veered from the road at the curve over a driveway, causing it to go airborne. Upon landing, the bike struck a fence and Deaeth was ejected, suffering fatal injuries at the scene. Responding officers noted the alleged presence of an alcoholic odor at the scene and a later autopsy was said to have confirmed a BAC of 0.170.
