What Happened

Area authorities have information on a crash that injured two people at I-635 in Balch Springs, TX on September 26th, 2022.Police say the incident happened around 1:30 p.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer operated by a 48-year-old Mathew Green was headed southbound on I-635 when it said to have suffered from a mechanical issue that caused its drive shaft to break. The drive shaft detached from the vehicle and struck the undercarriage of an approaching GMC Terrain, causing the GMC to catch fire from the collision. The 17-year-old driver of the GMC suffered minor injuries while a passenger, 41-year-old Courtney McLain, suffered serious injuries. No other injuries were reported.
