What Happened

El Paso Police are investigating a collision that left two people dead at Gateway North in El Paso, TX on June 21st, 2023. Police believe it happened around 2:30 p.m. and involved a Jeep Patriot and Toyota Scion. Investigators say the Toyota, operated by 19-year-old Daniel Riley Thurman allegedly ran a red light before colliding with the Jeep at the intersection with McCombs. Both Thurman and his passenger were taken to an area hospital with injuries they died from. The driver of the Jeep, identified as 31-year-old Laneisa Speller and her 8-year-old passenger, were both hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. Additional information was not available.
