What Happened

Authorities in Donna, TX, are investigating a serious two-vehicle crash that occurred on February 23, 2025, at approximately 12:37 a.m. at the intersection of Farm to Market Road 1423 and Business U.S. Highway 83. A Mercury Mountaineer was traveling east when it allegedly disregarded a red light and collided with a GMC Terrain. The crash resulted in suspected serious injuries to the 38-year-old driver of the GMC, Daniel Sotelo and minor injuries to two 28-year-old passengers, including Felipa Sotelo and a 7-year-old child. The driver of the Mercury, a 54-year-old woman who was not publicly identified, was uninjured but was charged with driving while intoxicated, running a red light, and driving without a license. Alcohol and drug use were contributing factors.
