What Happened

Area authorities have information on a crash that injured a motorcyclist at State Hwy 118 in Jeff Davis County, TX on October 2nd, 2021. Police say it all happened around 3:45 p.m. A pair of motorcycles were traveling northbound on TX 118 when one failed to control its speed and collided with the rear of a trailer attached to a parked Dodge Dakota. The second motorcycle, operated by 56-year-old Daniel Taylor Newman also crashed after the first, causing serious injuries to Newman. Newman was cited for Failure to Control Speed. The operator of the first motorcycle, 73-year-old Alan Brutcher and 77-year-old passenger, Rose Mary Brutcher, were evaluated for possible injury. The operator of the Dodge was issued several citations related to licensing for the vehicle.
