What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officers have information on a fatal collision at Dairy Rd in Victoria, TX on December 17th, 2021. They say the incident happened around 1:30 a.m. A Toyota 4Runner operated by 40-year-old Ruben Baldez is said to have been headed northbound on Dairy Rd when the vehicle veered from its lane for unknown reasons and entered into southbound lanes while headed northbound. A pedestrian walking northbound in the southbound lanes, identified as 33-year-old Danielle Urias, was struck by the Toyota and allegedly fled the scene, leaving Urias behind with serious injuries. She was taken to an area hospital and later died from her injuries. Baldez was later located and officers say Baldez displayed multiple sings of intoxication. Records indicate charges that include Accident Involving Personal Injury or Death and Driving While Intoxicated were issued.
