What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a motorcyclist at Hickory St and N 1st St in Abilene, TX on October 16th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 3:25 p.m. A Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by 64-year-old Danny Kimbrough was approaching a yellow signal light while eastbound on N 1st St while a bus was stopped at a red light. When the light for the bus turned green and the bus entered the intersection, investigators say the motorcycle failed to yield and both that motorcycle and a second bike slid into the side of the bus while attempting to avoid the collision. Kimbrough was hospitalized with serious injuries that he later died from. The other cyclist, a 46-year-old Abilene man, was not injured nor was the bus driver or any passengers. Additional information was not immediately available.
