What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a driver at US 290 in Hays County, TX on February 10th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 5:40 p.m. A Dodge 3500 headed westbound on US 290 is said to have been in the process of attempting a left turn when it collided with a Freightliner dump truck headed eastbound. The impact caused the Freightliner to overturn into a light pole and catch fire. An approaching Ford F-150 swerved to avoid a crash and overturned into a ditch. The drivers of the Dodge and Ford were hospitalized with minor injuries. The Freightliner driver, identified as 34-year0old Danny Wilford, died at the scene. Additional details were not available.
