What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a driver at US 190 in Polk County, TX on April 7th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 12:23 p.m. Investigators say a Dodge Ram towing a trailer was headed westbound US 190 when the trailer, which they believe was improperly secured, detached. This caused the vehicle to lost control and veer from the road into a barrow ditch where it suffered a tire blowout. This led to the vehicle to overturning several times before coming to rest in the ditch. The driver, identified as 75-year-old Darrell James Louviere, suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
