Authorities have information on a crash that killed one person involved at US 59 in San Jacinto County, TX on May 9th, 2024. Police believe the incident happened around 2:52 a.m. According to investigators, a Kia Optima was reportedly disabled in a moving lane of travel, allegedly with an active right-turn signal flashing. As a tractor-trailer approaching the vehicle, reports say the truck attempted to avoid the collision by veering left before impacting the rear of the Kia. Authorities say the impact caused both vehicles to travel into separate ditches on either side of the roadway. The operator of the Kia, identified as 63-year-old Darryl Rogers, was present inside the vehicle when it was struck and suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
