What Happened

Austin Police are investigating a collision that left one person dead at East 7th St in Austin, TX on May 12th, 2023. Police say it happened around 2:30 a.m. and began after the victim involved was allegedly seen entering a vehicle that may not have belonged to the victim. Officers allege a pursuit began following an attempted traffic stop. The victim's vehicle eventually collided with a freight train during the pursuit and the individual had serious injuries. They were taken to an area hospital for treatment and later died. Police later identified the victim as 29-year-old David Bedford Jr. At this time, additional information was not available.
