What Happened

Lubbock Police are investigating a crash that injured at least one person involved at 82nd St and Frankford Ave in Lubbock, TX on February 2nd, 2025. Police say the incident happened around 10:57 p.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Durango traveling east failed to control its speed and rear-ended a stopped Nissan Versa, causing the Nissan to collide with a Nissan Altima ahead.

The crash is said to have resulted in suspected serious injuries to the 38-year-old driver of the Dodge identified as Mayda Dimas, while the 22-year-old driver of the Versa and the 36-year-old driver of the Altima, identified as Ashton Smith and David Blackerby, sustained possible injuries. Contributing factors included alcohol impairment, distracted driving due to cell phone use, and failure to control speed by th Durango operator, who was cited for DWI.
