What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials identified the person killed in a crash at County Rd 4757 in Wise County, TX on April 24th, 2022. Investigators say it happened around 1 a.m. According to initial reports, a GMC Sierra operated by 42-year-old David Byford Jr was headed eastbound on County Road 4757 when it veered from the road into a tree. The impact caused the vehicle to also hit a nearby fence and caused Byford fatal injuries at the scene. Police allege suspicion that Byford may have been driving while under the influence of alcohol.
