Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a man at State Hwy 149 in Panola County, TX on March 3rd, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 11:05 a.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet Silverado operated by 34-year-old David Crooks was headed northwest on TX 149 as it crested a hill. The truck then collided with a tractor-trailer that was stopped to make a left turn onto a private drive. The impact pushed the tractor-railer into a west bar ditch and caused fatal injuries to Crooks at the scene. The other driver was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
