What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a driver at I-45 in Freestone County, TX on April 22nd, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 8:05 p.m. According to investigators, a commercial truck operated by 42-year-old David Thomas James was traveling southeast on I-45 when it reportedly failed to control its speed and collided with the rear of a Chevrolet Malibu. Police say a semi-truck was parked ahead in the improved shoulder, disconnected and disabled, while the driver was directing traffic away. The collision resulted in the truck pushing the Malibu from the road into a median while the truck went into the shoulder and truck the disconnected truck and its driver that was standing nearby. James suffered fatal injuries at the scene The driver of the disabled truck, a 51-year-old Houston woman was seriously injured while a passenger in the Malibu suffered minor injuries.
