Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed an officer at I-45 in Centerville, TX on February 20th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 10:30 p.m. According to investigators, a patrol unit occupied by 38-year-old Deputy Charles Rivette was involved in a collision with an 18w-wheeler. The impact is said to have caused Rivette to be ejected from the vehicle before he was struck by an approaching pickup truck. The patrol unit, operated by 37-year-old Deputy James Francis, was stuck by two 18-wheeler, leaving Francis and an inmate in the vehicle, seriously injured.
