What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian at State Hwy 289 in Dallas, TX on September 18th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 1:56 p.m. According to investigators, a Ford F-450 was northbound on Preston Rd before allegedly running a red light and proceeding into the intersection with Linden Ln. Officials say the vehicle collided with a Nissan Murano operated by 70-year-old Deborah Brown. The collision is said to have caused the Nissan to veer across a sound bound lane over a curb where it struck a pedestrian seated on a walker on the sidewalk. The pedestrian, identified as 45-year-old Derick Lamond Stanley, suffered fatal injuries. Both Brown and a passenger, 73-year-old Jerry Lee Brown, were seriously injured, according to police. The F-450 operator was not injured, police say. Additional information was not available.
