What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a person at FM 1012 in Newton County, TX on June 14th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 2:25 p.m. A commercial truck operated by 31-year-old Joshua Gomez reportedly was traveling at an unsafe speed around a curve when it lost control and veered from the road. It then crashed into an electrical pole. A passenger in the vehicle 23-year-old Devin Westbrook, suffered serious injuries. Gomez was not injured and charged with Driving at an Unsafe Speed. Police say that Gomez allegedly mentioned that a spider fell on him as he was driving as a possible reason for the crash.
