Donald Collins Killed in Accident at I-30 and Second Ave in Dallas County, TX

Dallas County Sheriff's Office authorities are investigating a crash that killed one person at I-30 and Second Ave in Dallas County, TX on August 12th, 2023. Police say the incident occurred around 2:28 a.m. Investigators say a tow truck and Chrysler Town & Country were involved in a collision that saw the tow truck flee the scene. Police say an individual that stopped to help assist with the minivan, identified as 25-year-0ld Donald Collins, was killed when he was struck by a passing Chevrolet Tahoe. Officials say the Tahoe operator, identified as 33-year-old Nelly Martinez-Leal, was arrested on charges that include intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault with vehicle. The van occupants, one identified as Graciela Rodriguez, were hospitalized with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening in nature. Police later located the driver of the tow truck, alleged to be 25-year-old Juan Francisco Garcia, after Garcia surrendered to authorities following an issued arrest warrant.
