What Happened

Harris County Sheriff's Office authorities are investigating a crash that killed a man at East Freeway in Harris County, TX on June 24th, 2023. Officials say it happened around 4 p.m. According to police, authorities attempted to perform a traffic stop on a Dodge Charger that is alleged to have failed to stop. The vehicle fled the traffic stop and police began pursuit of the vehicle. The vehicle, at some point, veered from its lane before colliding with a concrete barrier wall. The vehicle overturned as a result of the impact, ejecting a passenger from the vehicle. The passenger, Donzel Lewis, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Police say the vehicle and debris from the vehicle also impacted three other nearby vehicles before three occupants of the Dodge allegedly fled the scene on-foot. Authorities say two of the occupants were lated apprehended, however, the driver was not located. Additional details have not yet been made available.
