Authorities in Polk County, TX, are investigating a three-vehicle crash that occurred on March 16, 2025, at approximately 8:37 p.m. on US Highway 190 in a construction zone. A Chevrolet Silverado was traveling east when it made an unsafe turn and collided with a semi-trailer being towed, causing that trailer to strike a Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling west. The 88-year-old driver of the Trailblazer sustained suspected serious injuries, and his 80-year-old passenger, identified as Doris Cooper, sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the Silverado was uninjured. Unsafe turning and construction zone presence were identified as contributing factors. The investigation is incomplete.
