What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a driver at US 59 in Nacogdoches County, TX on September 16th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 12:35 a.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer operated by a 53-year-old Austin man was southbound on US 59 in an inside lane. Headed northbound in an outside lane was a Chevrolet HHR operated by 56-year-old Dorothy Pleasant. Officials allege the Chevrolet, for unknown reasons, veered into the southbound inside traffic lane, colliding with the tractor-trailer. The Chevrolet caught fire in the collision, according to police, and Pleasant was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say the Austin man was not injured and did not have additional details.
