What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at North Lamar Blvd in Austin, TX on December 25th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 8:44 a.m. A Nissan Armada operated by an unidentified 23-year-old male was headed northbound on Lamar when it reportedly veered into a southbound lane and collided head-on with a Fiat 500 operated by 66-year-old Elaine Baker.  The driver of the Nissan and a 24-year-old passenger, neither of whom were injured, allegedly attempted to flee the scene on-f00t before being apprehended by police. Baker is said to have suffered serious injuries in the collision. Officials say the 23-year-old was arrested for suspicion of DWI.
