What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that injured three people at State Hwy 171 in Malone, TX on May 18th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 4:22 p.m. According to investigators, a GMC Yukon was westbound on State Hwy 171 before allegedly failing to control its speed and colliding with a Chevrolet Silverado slowing to make a turn. Reports say the driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 53-year-old Elinda Rodriguez, was seriously injured. A 14-year-old passenger had minor injuries, reports say, as did a 27-year-old passenger in the GMC. The driver of the GMC, who was not publicly identified, was allegedly uninjured and allegedly cited for Failure to Control Speed.
