Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a collision that injured a driver at US 79 in Anderson County, TX on August 22nd, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 3:45 a.m. A Chevrolet Traverse operated by 32-year-old Elisabet Alaniz was going south on US 287 when the car began veering from the road. Investigators allege that Alaniz may have fallen asleep at the wheel. The vehicle left the road at an unsafe speed, crossed a private drive and overturned two times. Alaniz was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. Police suspect that alcohol may have played a factor in the crash.
