What Happened

Area authorities have information on a crash that injured a driver at FM 225 in Rusk County, TX on January 19th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 11:58 a.m. A Chevrolet Equinox operated by 79-year-old Elleine McKnight Downs was headed southbound on FM 225 as it rounded a curve. Headed northbound was a tractor-trailer log truck that investigators say veered onto the southbound side of the road, causing the Equinox to lost control. It then left the roadway and struck a telephone pole and fence before ending up in a ditch. Downs suffered minor injuries in the incident. The other vehicle involved continued northbound and was not present when police arrived.
