Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a person at US 69 in Tyler, TX on August 3rd, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 1:49 p.m. A Ford Edge operated by 70-year-old Elvina Elaine Fitzgerald was headed south on Hwy 69 when a tractor-trailer ahead began slowing to make a turn. The Edge was in cruise control, according to Fitzgerald, and accelerated rather than braked and collided with the tractor-trailer. Fitzgerald suffered serious injuries and was cited for Failure to Control Speed. The truck driver was not injured.
