What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials have identified the two people killed in a collision on US 83 near Laredo, TX on February 26th, 2022. They say it happened around 3:03 a.m. According to initial reports, a Volkswagen Beetle was headed on the wrong side of the road when it collided head-on with a Ford Explorer. Police believe the driver of the Volkswagen may have been intoxicated as he reportedly displayed signs of intoxication at the scene and was hospitalized with serious injuries. The driver of the Ford, 46-year-old Erick Alberto Moreno Rodriguez and his passenger, 25-year-old Brayan Alvarez Morales, died at the scene. A third passenger was hospitalized with minor injuries.
