What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that killed a person at US 183 in Leander, TX on November 18th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 2:15 p.m. According to investigators, a Kia Forte is said to have changed lanes at the same times as a northbound motorcycle. The vehicles collided when the Kia collided with the rear of the motorcycle, causing it to lose control and tracks. Following the impact, reports allege the Kia fled the scene. The driver of the motorcycle, identified as 58-year-old Ernest Hernandez, was killed. Reports indicate the Liberty Hill man operating the Kia was later located and charged with Failure to Stop and Render Aid. Additional information was not available.
