What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that injured two people at US 83 in Kimble County, TX on February 1st, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 8:18 a.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer operated by a 34-year-old Vestal, NY man was headed northbound before it lost control on the icy roads. It crossed a center stripe into a southbound lane, colliding head-on with a Nissan Titan operated by 65-year-old Julio Ponce Guerrero. While Gueerro suffered injuries believed to be non-life-threatening, a passenger was more seriously injured. She was identified as Esmerada Ponce. The Vestal man was not injured, according to authorities, and cited for Failure to Control Speed.
