What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that killed one person involved at I-35 in Valley View, TX on March 2nd, 2024. Authorities say the incident happened around 10:10 p.m. Investigators say a Chevrolet C2500 was northbound on I-35, approaching a construction zone. Reports allege the vehicle traveled around the construction cones and other vehicles in a shoulder before losing control and going into a skid. The vehicle is said to have struck a cable barrier before overturning onto the passenger side. While the driver, who was not publicly identified, was able to exit the vehicle, allegedly without injury, reports say a passenger was trapped in the vehicle. The passenger, identified as 34-year-old Fernando Aldaba Barrientos, was extricated from the vehicle and taken to an area hospital with injuries he later died from. Sources indicate the driver was charged with Intoxication Manslaughter in connection with the crash.
