What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a man at FM 33 in Howard County, TX on November 9th, 2023. Police say the incident happened in rainy weather conditions. Reports indicate a tractor-trailer operated by 51-year-old Fernando Alvarez was westbound on FM 33. Headed eastbound was a second tractor-trailer operated by 49-year-old Ra Nebmare Nebertcher-Bey. Police allege the westbound truck veered from its lane for unclear reasons before side-swiping the eastbound vehicle. From there, sources say Alvarez's truck continued westbound in eastbound lanes before colliding head-on with a vehicle operated by 54-year-old Trevis Larson, becoming jack-knifed in the process. The truck was then truck by an approaching Chevrolet Malibu, ejecting Alvarez from the truck and causing fatal injuries. Larson and five passengers were hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. Malibu driver, 21-year-old Bailey Garcia, was hospitalized in stable condition with a passenger. Nebertcher-Bey was allegedly treated and released.
