Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a man at State Hwy 21 near Crockett, TX on November 27th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 10:25 a.m. According to investigators, Ford pickup truck operated by 89-year-old Fred Gunn Jr was southwest on Hwy 21 before experiencing a tire blowout. Reports say the vehicle lost control and traveling into an opposite lane of travel where it collided head-on with an approaching tractor-trailer. Gunn's vehicle caught fire after the collision and officials say he was pronounced dead at the scene. The tractor-trailer operator, who was not publicly identified, was uninjured, reports say.
