What Happened

State Police are investigating a crash that injured a driver at US 59 in Polk County, TX on September 27th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 1:39 p.m. A tractor-trailer operated by a 37-year-old Houston man was in a shoulder on US 59 waiting to turn left into a crossover before it began to make the turn. However, due to traffic, the truck was not able to complete the turn and was blocking travel lanes as a Ford F-150 operated by 79-year-old Freddie Marshall Jr approached. The Ford reportedly attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to and struck the right side of the trailer, causing Marshall minor injuries. The Houston man was not injured and cited for Failure to Yield Row-Open Intersection.
