What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials have information related to a crash that killed a pedestrian at State Hwy 63 in Jasper County, TX on August 29th, 2021. They say it happened around 2:40 p.m. A GMC Sierra operated by 45-year-old Patrick Bell was headed westbound on State Hwy 63 while 59-year-old Frederic Joshua Goleman was walking in the shoulder also headed westbound. Investigators believe the truck veered over into the shoulder and struck Goleman, who suffered fatal injuries. Bell reportedly told police that Goleman stepped into the path of the truck. Police allege that Bell may have been drinking prior to the collision.
