What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at FM 1446 and Mesa Rd in Ellis County, TX on May 12th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 8:54 p.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet Silverado operated by 18-year-old Garrett Blackmon was headed southwest on FM 1446 when it reportedly lost control at a slight curve in the road. The vehicle veered from the road into a tree line before hitting a road sign and overturning onto its side. Blackmon suffered serious injuries in the crash. An 18-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries. Police are working to determine more information regarding potential causes for the accident.
