What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a driver at FM 308 in Hill County, TX on June 19th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 8:46 p.m. A GMC Sierra operated by 32-year-old Chance Jares was headed northbound when it is said to have turned left and cut across center lines at an intersection. It failed to yield in the process to an oncoming motorcycle operated by 61-year-old Gary Moore. After the collision, Jares reportedly fled the scene on-foot, leaving Moore behind with injuries that he died from. Police charged Jares with Failure to Stop and Render Aid, Open Container in a Motor Vehicle and Failure to Yield.
