What Happened

Officials are investigating a collision that killed one person involved at US 87 in Potter County, TX on September 28th, 2024. Police believe the incident happened sometime around 11:40 p.m. According to investigators, a vehicle headed southbound is alleged to have performed a lane change that was unsafe before striking a Chevrolet Silverado. Following the collision, reports claim the suspect vehicle fled the scene while the Silverado lost control in the impact. Officials say the vehicle entered into a westbound shoulder where it struck both a parked vehicle and an individual standing next to the vehicle. The individual, identified as 68-year-old Jose Najera, was fatally injured. The driver of the Silverado, identified as 66-year-old Graciela Demacias, is alleged to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities did not have additional inforamtion available.
