What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that killed one person at I-45 in Madison County, TX on June 15th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 2:45 p.m. Investigators say a Mercedes-Benz 300 headed southbound on I-45 is alleged to have veered out of its lane before entering into and through a median onto a feeder road. There, reports say the vehicle collided with a Kia Sorento, ejecting a rear passenger from the Mercedes-Benz. Reports say the driver of the Kia, identified as 54-year-old Graciela Martinez, was fatally injured. A 14-year-old passenger in the Mercedes-Benz and the two occupants of the Mercedes were seriously injured. Sources indicate a Failure to Drive in a Single Lane charge was recommended and/or issued against the operator of the Mercedes-Benz.
