Police are investigating a crash that injured two people at I-35 in Austin, TX on August 17th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 1:48 a.m. According to investigators, a Ford E Series van was northbound, allegedly at a high rate of speed, as lanes ahead began to merge due to construction cones blocking lanes ahead. The van is alleged to have make an abrupt right turn before striking a Chevrolet SUV, pushing it into a nearby tractor-trailer. Reports indicate two passengers in the Chevrolet, identified as 69-year-old Hector Marquez and 67-year-old Maria Marquez, had non-life-threatening injuries. The driver, who was not publicly identified, was more seriously injured, reports say. Reports also say the Ford operator was also injured and charged with Intoxication Assault.
