What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a man at State Hwy 48 in Cameron County, TX on October 23rd, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 10:15 p.m. According to investigators, a GMC Sierra headed eastbound on State Hwy 48 collided with a Ford Ranger that was stationary on the eastbound lanes without active lighting. Following the collision, the Ford was pushed into the westbound lanes where it was struck by a Chevrolet Malibu. The impact ejected the Ford operator, identified as 71-year-old Heriberto Solis, from the vehicle. Solis was hospitalized for treatment of serious injuries he later died from.
