What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a driver at Borgfeld Dr in Bexar County, TX on July 22nd, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 9:11 p.m. According to investigators, a Nissan Altima operated by a 16-year-old driver was westbound on Borgfeld before turning left on a flashing yellow arrow. As this happened, police a motorcycle headed eastbound was proceeding through a green traffic signal. The vehicles collided at the intersection, ejecting both occupants of the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle, identified as 19-year-old Hunter Phillips, was killed in the collision. His 19-year-old passenger, who was not publicly identified, suffered suspected serious injuries. The Nissan operator had less serious injuries, according to police. An Intoxication Manslaughter charge and Intoxication Assault charge were both recommended and/or issued against the driver.
